A Vision Begins: Foundations of Integrity

The journey began in 1990 when Mahesh Sonani arrived in Surat—the diamond capital that would soon become the center of his life’s work. Starting as a rough diamond trader, he recognized a critical gap: while the industry was expanding, its technology was not. Mahesh chose to innovate where others hesitated.

India’s First Breakthrough in Diamond Tooling

In 1992, he introduced diamond-powdered tools—a first-of-its-kind innovation in India. By 1999, this progress led to the creation of Prism Corporation, now a trusted name that helped elevate Surat’s global diamond presence.

The Discovery That Changed Everything

During international research explorations, Mahesh encountered lab-grown diamonds. While the world used them mostly for industrial applications, he saw a future far beyond:

In a bold move, he imported the first batch of rough lab-grown diamonds into India. This decision laid the foundation of Sonani Industries.

In 2006, this vision took shape with the founding of Sonani Industries (formerly Tenth Diamond Planet Pvt. Ltd.). The company became one of India’s earliest pioneers in HPHT colour enhancement technology.

By 2016, Sonani reduced the traditional 30–60 day processing cycle to just 24 hours—a breakthrough that positioned the company among global leaders.

By 2020, with a processing capacity of 9,000–10,000 carats/day and 7 proprietary patents, Sonani Industries emerged as a technological powerhouse.

A New Chapter: The Next Generation Joins the Legacy

Between 2010 and 2013, the next generation— Jayam Sonani and Agastya Sonani—joined the enterprise. Their arrival marked the merging of traditional experience with modern science and global ambition.

Jayam Sonani: The Scientific Architect

In 2013, Jayam co-founded Diamond Elements, a specialized CVD R&D and production center created to push the limits of diamond science.

Under Diamond Elements, innovations spanned multiple diamond applications:
